Meet Claudia

Described as electric and alive, Claudia’s paintings celebrate presence & joy. She works with a sense of grounding, creating bold & gestural works that bring viewers directly into a visceral feeling space.

on her paintings

Claudia is a New Zealand-born and Berlin-based contemporary artist working with large-format, colour-driven paintings that explore states of being, sensation and self.

She has worked across Germany and Australia, including projects for events and brands such as Ganni, Berlin Fashion Week, Premium Berlin, HOKA and more.

“For me, joy isn’t light or frivolous — it’s serious work. It’s how we align ourselves with what is good, balanced, and alive. My art is my way of studying joy and sharing it with others.”

While her work is grounded in formal experimentation with colour, it is ultimately about energy & emotional frequency.

The works celebrate sensuality. Lavish colour and sensation dominate. With turns of movement, the pieces move and change depending on the angle, or the viewer’s mood.

“My work is really about states of being — it’s about what joy feels like in the body, what harmony feels like when you see it. People often tell me my paintings make them feel calm or uplifted, and that’s exactly what I hope for. I think of my paintings as invitations to feel good.”

“I experience the world through sensation — colors, patterns, and shapes carry feelings for me. When I paint, I’m tuning into that: finding the color that feels like love, or the balance that feels like joy.”

on combining running and art

Alongside painting, Claudia is very involved in the running scene in Berlin and internationally. And if you’re one to doubt whether the two go together, she would present a strong case that they do.

In the last years, Claudia has been invited by brands and agencies to explore the intersection between creative output and, in particular, long-distance running. There have been commissions for paintings for events and brand activations around the topic, and invitations to contribute in publications.

Recently, Claudia was invited as a key speaker on a panel discussion about the shared states between the two themes, each as rituals of intensity, repetition, and revelation.

on motherhood

Importantly for Claudia, her young daughter has been a part of this creative life from the very beginning — often quite literally in the studio with me. Those early years, painting with her by my side, shaped a kind of radical joy and freedom that continues to live in the work. Even now, their life together — vibrant, chaotic, deeply full — feeds the energy she brings to the canvas.
